Running deep in the posterior compartment of the leg, the fibular (peroneal) veins accompany the fibular artery along the medial surface of the fibula, coursing inferiorly behind the lateral malleolus region before contributing to the tibioperoneal trunk and the popliteal venous system proximally. A lateral perspective places the fibula and its muscular envelopes in clear profile, with the soleus and flexor hallucis longus forming key relationships, and with the lateral compartment (fibularis longus and brevis) sitting more superficial and anterior to the deep venous channel. Superficial veins along the lateral leg and dorsum of the foot can be contrasted against the deep pathway. Nerve elements track nearby. Deep calf veins matter when you need to distinguish what is clinically accessible from what is clinically dangerous to miss.
