Description
Posterior thoracic elements frame the fifth thoracic vertebra (T5) within an articulated segment of the mid-thoracic spine, with the highlighted vertebra distinguished in blue against adjacent levels. From this dorsal aspect, the paired laminae broaden as they sweep medially to meet at the base of the spinous process, forming the posterior wall of the vertebral canal. Laterally, the transverse processes project from the vertebral arch at the pedicle junction, positioned posterolateral to the vertebral body and separated by the intervertebral foramina from the next segment. The spinous processes overlap inferiorly in typical thoracic fashion.
