Description
Centered in a posterior view of the midline spine, the seventh thoracic vertebra (T7) is highlighted against adjacent thoracic and upper lumbar vertebrae. From behind, the T7 spinous process projects inferiorly in the thoracic pattern, flanked bilaterally by the laminae and transverse processes, while the paired superior and inferior articular processes form the zygapophysial joints with T6 and T8. Lateral to the vertebral arch, the costal facets at the transverse processes and on the posterolateral margins of the vertebral body align with the ribs, and the vertebral foramen sits centrally, posterior to the heart shaped vertebral body.
