From a right lateral perspective, the right superior and right inferior pulmonary veins are seen coursing medially and slightly posteriorly to enter the posterior wall of the left atrium, with their ostia positioned superior and inferior to one another. The right atrium and right ventricle form much of the anterior contour in this projection, while the pulmonary trunk and right pulmonary artery pass superiorly and posteriorly toward the right lung hilum.
