Posteriorly, the right lung is oriented to emphasize the superior segmental bronchus (B6) arising from the right lower lobar bronchus just distal to the bronchus intermedius. From this back-facing perspective, the B6 takeoff sits superior to the basal segmental bronchi (B7 to B10) and tracks toward the apical portion of the inferior lobe, deep to the posterior lung parenchyma. Expect the right superior lobar bronchus and its segmental branches to lie superior and anterior to the lower lobe system, while the lower lobe bronchial tree remains more inferior and medial as it approaches the hilum.
