Description
Oblique lateral anatomy of the male thoracic cage centers on the false ribs (costae spuriae, ribs 8 to 10), their costochondral junctions, and the way their cartilages converge to join the cartilage of the seventh rib, forming the inferior costal margin. Posteriorly, each rib curves from its head and tubercle at the thoracic vertebrae to its shaft and anterior cartilaginous segment, with the thoracic spine in profile and portions of the cervical and lumbar vertebral columns included for orientation. Inferior continuation into the sacrum anchors the overall spinal alignment. Blue highlighting isolates the targeted rib set against the remaining ribs and vertebrae.
