Description
Curving around the medial side of a flexed knee, the distal femur and proximal tibia frame the joint line while the patellar ligament tracks anteriorly toward the tibial tuberosity. Posteromedially, the hamstring tendons approach their insertions, with semitendinosus and gracilis joining to form the pes anserinus on the anteromedial tibia, and the broader semimembranosus inserting more posteriorly with expansions toward the oblique popliteal ligament. Along the medial femoral epicondyle to medial tibial condyle, the tibial (medial) collateral ligament spans the capsule, lying deep to the superficial fascial planes and adjacent to the meniscocapsular region.
