Posterior surface anatomy of the male lower limb is rendered with the superficial venous network traced over the gluteus maximus, hamstring compartment (biceps femoris laterally, semitendinosus and semimembranosus medially), and the calf dominated by gastrocnemius with soleus deep and distal. Superficial venous tributaries course in the subcutaneous tissue and cross the gastrocnemius bellies toward the popliteal fossa, with longitudinal channels tracking along the posteromedial and posterolateral leg. The great saphenous territory is suggested medially, while the small saphenous vein pathway is emphasized posteriorly as it ascends from the lateral foot and posterior ankle toward the midline calf.
