Arcing along the superolateral aspect of the knee, the superior lateral genicular vein courses adjacent to its companion artery as it wraps posterior to the lateral femoral epicondyle toward the periarticular vascular network. Distal femur and proximal tibia frame the joint, with the fibular head positioned laterally and slightly posterior to the tibial plateau. Fibrous bands representing the lateral collateral ligament and nearby tendinous structures lie superficial to the capsule, while the vein remains close to the lateral supracondylar region before turning toward the popliteal venous system. Small venules may be suggested feeding into the main channel.
