Description
Centered in the thoracic column, the T10 vertebra is presented from an anterior perspective with the vertebral body dominant and the vertebral arch elements receding posteriorly. On the superolateral margin of the body, the single superior costal facet (demifacet) is visible where the head of rib 10 articulates, positioned lateral to the anterior vertebral body contour and superior to the intervertebral disc space. Adjacent vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs frame T10 superiorly and inferiorly, while the transverse processes project laterally; the spinous process lies posterior and is largely obscured from this viewpoint. T10 is highlighted against the surrounding vertebrae for quick localization. This level matters because T10 marks the transition toward the thoracolumbar junction where rib articulation patterns and vertebral morphology change, and it is a common reference point when counting levels for thoracic procedures. The anterior view foregrounds the vertebral body and costovertebral joint surface, both relevant in vertebral compression fractures, metastatic deposits, and infections that often begin in the vertebral body and can narrow the spinal canal secondarily.
