Across the calvaria, the occipitofrontalis (epicranius) is presented from an anterior perspective with emphasis on the frontalis belly spread over the frontal bone, superior to the supraorbital margins and continuous posteriorly into the galea aponeurotica. Inferiorly, the bony facial framework is clear, including the orbits, nasal bones, maxilla, and mandible with the dental arches in occlusion. Posterior to the mandible and inferior to the occiput, the cervical vertebrae align in the midline with intervertebral discs interposed, while the clavicles sit anteroinferiorly as paired struts at the base of the neck. Clean landmarks. Frontalis anatomy matters because its fibers lack a bony insertion and instead tension the scalp via the epicranial aponeurosis, producing forehead rhytids and elevating the eyebrows while opposing depressors such as orbicularis oculi and corrugator supercilii. That relationship becomes practical when mapping cosmetic chemodenervation: overly inferior botulinum toxin placement can drop the brow, and asymmetry often reflects uneven dosing across the midline raphe and lateral fiber spread.
