Description
Anteriorly oriented, the uterine corpus is presented with emphasis on the facies vesicalis (anterior uterine surface) and its peritoneal covering as it reflects onto the vesical dome. Broad ligament peritoneal folds extend laterally from the uterine margins toward the pelvic sidewall, framing the body of the uterus while leaving the lower anterior segment relatively bare where peritoneum transitions at the uterovesical reflection. Inferior to the corpus, the cervix occupies the midline, with the vesicouterine pouch forming between uterus and urinary bladder. A clean superficial map. For teaching pelvic peritoneal relationships, this anterior view matters because it fixes the exact level where the peritoneum leaves the uterus to cover the bladder, a landmark that guides entry into the vesicouterine space during cesarean delivery and abdominal hysterectomy. Surgeons develop the bladder flap by dissecting along this reflection to reduce cystotomy risk and to mobilize the bladder off the lower uterine segment, and the same anatomy explains why prior cesarean adhesions often tether the bladder to the anterior uterine wall.
