Description

Running along the dorsum of the male forefoot, the dorsal metatarsal arteries continue distally as dorsal digital arteries that track between adjacent metatarsals and then course over the proximal and middle phalanges toward the distal phalanges. Bony landmarks include the tarsals, metatarsals, and segmented toe phalanges, with the vessels positioned superficial to the extensor apparatus and aligned longitudinally with each ray. Venous channels accompany the arterial pattern on the dorsal surface, returning proximally toward the ankle region. Color coding separates arteries from veins at a glance.
