Description
Anterior thoracic anatomy is rendered in an x-ray style, centering on the left atrium and the paired pulmonary veins returning oxygenated blood from each lung. Right superior and inferior pulmonary veins course medially from the right hilum, passing posterior to the right atrium and entering the posterior wall of the left atrium, while the left superior and inferior pulmonary veins track from the left hilum, adjacent to the left atrial appendage and left ventricle. Semi-transparent cardiac chambers allow the venous ostia to be appreciated in relation to the atrial cavity and atrioventricular valves.
