Description
Rendered in an x-ray style transparency, the male heart is presented with semi-transparent chambers and valves so the coronary venous network can be followed across the epicardial surface. The middle cardiac vein (posterior interventricular vein) tracks in the posterior interventricular sulcus toward the crux, where it joins the coronary sinus in the posterior atrioventricular groove. Tributaries from the inferior wall of the left ventricle and the posterior right ventricle converge posteriorly, while the aortic root and proximal great vessels provide superior landmarks for orientation. Posterior venous anatomy matters when you need to distinguish normal coronary sinus drainage from variants that change procedural strategy.
