Description
Running longitudinally along the ventral aspect of the thoracic vertebral column, the anterior longitudinal ligament forms a broad band that hugs the anterior surfaces of successive vertebral bodies. A lateral view clarifies its firm attachment to the vertebral body cortex while it bridges across the intervertebral discs, which appear as distinct pads between adjacent vertebrae. The ligament sits anterior to the vertebral canal and posterior to the prevertebral soft tissues, creating a continuous restraining layer from superior to inferior levels. Clear segmental repetition.
