Description
Medially at the distal thigh, the femoral artery gives rise to the descending genicular artery as it passes through the adductor canal, then the vessel courses inferiorly toward the medial femoral condyle and the periarticular tissues of the knee. Branching is shown tracking along the medial joint line, with arterial twigs passing deep to sartorius and adjacent to the tendinous expansions of vastus medialis and adductor magnus near the adductor hiatus. The artery’s terminal contributions blend into the periarticular genicular network on the inner knee, running close to the medial collateral ligament and the capsule. Bones of the distal femur and proximal tibia anchor the relationships. Clear landmarks.
