Description
Centered in an anterior (frontal) skeletal view, the paired hands are isolated by color, drawing attention to the carpus, metacarpus, and phalanges against the remainder of the female axial and appendicular skeleton. Distally, the radius lies lateral and the ulna medial in anatomical position, each widening toward the wrist to articulate with the proximal carpal row, while the metacarpals extend distally to the digits. From the thumb (pollex) on the lateral side to the little finger medially, proximal, middle, and distal phalanges align in series (with two phalanges in the thumb), creating a clean overview of digit length and ray orientation. Orientation is unmistakable.
