Seen in lateral profile, the mid thoracic spine centers on the T7 vertebra with its vertebral body anterior and the vertebral arch posterior, formed by paired pedicles leading into laminae that converge toward the spinous process. Superior and inferior articular processes outline the zygapophysial (facet) joints, while transverse processes project posterolaterally toward the costotransverse articulations typical of thoracic levels. Intervertebral discs bracket T7 above and below, separating it from adjacent vertebral bodies and helping define the thoracic kyphosis. The spinal canal sits posterior to the vertebral body within the ring of the arch. Clear landmarks. This lateral orientation matters because it is the working view for correlating thoracic vertebral morphology with sagittal alignment and load transfer through the vertebral bodies and discs.
